Piotr Namiotko’s attention was focused on the Hudson County boys volleyball semifinals for all but two minutes Thursday.

That was roughly how long Harrison paused during the second set to honor its senior standout for recording his 1,000th career kill. Then it was back to business, as the top-seeded Blue Tide finished off a 25-21, 25-15 victory over fourth-seeded North Bergen to reach their second straight county title match

Harrison will face No. 2 seed Bayonne 6 p.m. in Saturday’s final at Hudson Catholic.

“I played [at] opposite in the county finals when I was a freshman,” said Namiotko, now an outside/middle hitter. “We had a really good team, but we just couldn’t make it happen.”

He helped the Tide close the deal when it faced Bayonne for the championship last spring and “decided it would be a really good thing to keep on winning it after that.”

Harrison (31-4) has won plenty already this season, repeating as West Jersey Volleyball League champ and breaking the program record for victories it set in going 28-3 last season.
