Boys volleyball: Harrison defeats Bayonne to repeat as Hudson County Tournament champs

Piotr Namiotko had 12 kills, including the match point as top-seeded Harrison, No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, repeated as Hudson County Tournament champions, defeating second-seeded and No. 11 Bayonne, 25-15, 25-21, in the championship match at Hudson Catholic in Jersey City.

Michael Niczewski had six kills and three blocks for Harrison (32-4). Niczewski, a 6-5 junior middle, had two blocks and two kills in a span of six points, allowing the Blue Tide to overcome an 11-6 deficit in the second set.

Jimmy Vega recorded 19 assists and five digs, Maciej Gaus had nine digs, Namiotko added four digs and Wilton Negrin chipped in with three kills in the win. Four different Blue Tide players recorded kills in a 9-2 run in the first set which allowed Harrison to take a 12-5 lead and pull away.

Bayonne’s Daniel Rodriguez had seven kills and six digs for Bayonne (21-7), which had 15 consecutive matches before the final. Nick Arce-Cox recorded five kills and Quinton Burgos had 14 assists and four digs. C.J. Semeniak had eight digs, while Matthew Bajor had three kills and three digs.
