Friday (4/7), the Hasbrouck Heights girls and Fort Lee boys won their respective divisions at the Aviator Relays at Depken Field in Hasbrouck Heights.

The Heights girls won nine of the 16 events to easily defeat Ramsey, 111-64, winning six running events, the triple jump, shot put and javelin. Thirteen different Aviator girls shared in gold medal victories but senior Ashley Quinn, junior Monika Lucic and sophomore Serena Torres were particularly important as each took part in four victories and showed great versatility

Lucic and Torres were part of the 4-x-800, 3-x-400 hurdles, shuttle hurdles and triple jump teams while Quinn was also on the 4-x-800 team but earned gold as part of the 4-x-100, 4-x-400 and javelin teams.

Fort Lee only won three events but also grabbed 20 points in the three jumping events to defeat Cresskill, 77-61, for its second straight major win. Tahj Martin and Wesley Weingord were part of the winning 4-x-100, 4-x-200 and 4-x-400 teams, and Martin leaped 22 feet 1/2 inch for a school record in the long jump, leading the Bridgemen to a second place finish in that event. Mike Huertas and Jacob Im both shared in two victories for Fort Lee.

The highly anticipated debut of freshman Jenna Rogers in Rutherford in the high jump didn’t disappoint as she became just the 15th high jumper in Bergen County history to clear 5-6 under less than ideal jumping conditions, the first New Jersey jumper to clear the height this year.
