* Park Ridge freshman Joe Mahoney shot his first varsity 700 series on Tuesday, firing games of 233, 236 and 238 for a 707 versus Hawthorne Christian. The right-hander topped that the very next match, shooting 218, 247 and 246 for a 711 Thursday against Bergen Charter.

* Since a 7-0 loss to Glen Rock on Dec. 12, Pompton Lakes has won six straight NJIC Colonial matches, all via sweep. The Cardinals (54-9) have played one more match than the Panthers (49-7) and thus have a slight lead in the points standings. The teams meet again on Thursday.

* The Bergen County boys bowling tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. today at Bowler City in Hackensack. The entire 36-team field will bowl the first three games, which will decide individual awards. The three-game afternoon session will include the top 10 schools (of 20) in Groups 3-4 and the top eight (of 16) in Groups 1-2 to determine the team champions.
