Anthony Seidel and his Hasbrouck Heights teammates are looking to go to 7-0.
Elmwood Park could be playing for a part of the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC) Colonial division title when it hosts Hawthorne on Saturday.
While not the number one game on the docket this week, it will be historic as Wood-Ridge plays its first night game in the school’s history in football. In a local battle the first night game will be against Becton.
“We’re excited and we’re just hoping the lights work,” joked Wood-Ridge Athletic Director Jason Cata.
Friday, Oct. 19 (Games at 7 p.m.)
Saddle Brook (5-1) at Queen of Peace (2-4) at Harrison High School
Saddle Brook will be looking to come back after falling 31-17 to Hasbrouck Heights last weekend, the Falcons first loss of the season. The Falcons will be looking to get running back Chris Jacobson going. The Saddle Brook defense will need to stop Queen of Peace running back Kevin Momnohin.
Hasbrouck Heights (6-0) at Waldwick (3-3)
Hasbrouck Heights cannot overlook Waldwick, a team that had one of its most impressive wins of the season as it defeated 42-7. On the other hand Waldwick lost to Saddle Brook earlier in the season, 55-14. There should be a good dose of the running for the Aviators with Anthony Seidel and A.J. Traina. The Heights defense will need to stop Warriors back Aaron Chaparian who had three touchdown runs against Park Ridge. An Aviators victory will clinch at least a tie for the NJIC Meadowlands crown.
Becton (3-3) at Wood-Ridge (1-5)
