RUTHERFORD – Rutherford Finn-ished Lyndhurst for the second and final time.

Lifted by two early touchdown runs by sophomore tailback Billy Finn, and three touchdown passes from senior quarterback Nick Birchby, Rutherford downed Lyndhurst, 35-12, in the first round of the North 2, Group 2 playoffs.

Rutherford has built its 9-0 season on the strength of junior standout running back/receiver Kevin Kosakowski, and a strong front line, but Finn adds another dynamic ingredient for the Bulldogs.

“Billy’s not a sophomore, well, he is on paper, but he started as a freshman, so we look at him as a junior,” said Rutherford coach Andy Howell. “He’s tough as nails. We will go to battle with him any day. It’s great, because we take Kevin out of the game, the defense relaxes a bit, and Billy has fresh legs and he’s keeping them on their heels.”
