Unranked Eastern Christian’s 63-61 victory Friday over Manchester, ranked No. 21 in The Record Top 25, implies that the race for the title in NJIC Colonial Division boys basketball promises to be a wild ride. Senior G John Veenstra scored 30 to lead Eastern Christian (4-4 overall, 3-3 Colonial) to its third consecutive win. Veenstra is averaging 16.9 per game. Jared Post is averaging 10.3 per game over the past four games. While Elmwood Park leads the Colonial, Eastern Christian is among five other teams that appear capable of making an impact on the division race. In another significant Friday game, No. 18 Queen of Peace of the small-school NJIC stepped up to face No. 23 Cliffside Park of the Big North and lost, 59-54.
