— Charla Lim is the type of tennis player who wears her emotions on her sleeve.

On Tuesday, the Pompton Lakes junior had reason to be outwardly excited as she won three matches and advanced to the Passaic County Tournament’s first-singles final.

“I love celebrating out there,” Lim said. “It gets me motivated and pushes me to play even harder.

“Sometimes I do get a little too hyped up, though. It’s important to stay focused and remain calm.”

On Tuesday, Lim kept her emotions in check as she beat Depaul’s 10th-seeded Sofia Nasiek in the semifinals, 6-4 and 6-3. The third-seeded Cardinal ace will face Wayne Hills’ top-seeded Angela Reyzelman in today’s finals at Hershfield Park in Pompton Lakes.

Lim will be making her third appearance in a county final, having lost in second doubles as a freshman and in third singles last year. She said, “Hopefully the third time’s the charm.”

“Tonight I’m going to meditate and do a little yoga,” Lim said. “Then I’m going to think about putting everything I have into the finals.”
