Ryan Moore graduated from thrower to pitcher this season.

That’s why the Waldwick senior right-hander won a North Jersey-best 10 games, including three in the state baseball tournament for the North 1, Group 1 champions. He got the call in all the biggest games as the Warriors drove to the state final, carving out a reputation as one of the best clutch arms in North Jersey.

“This was a lot different than the other years,” Moore said. “I was a lot stronger with my fastball, and I felt I could use any pitch in any count. I felt more dominant, and I felt a lot more confident with men on base.”

Moore, who teamed with junior eight-game winner John Apgar to give the Warriors a dominant one-two punch, struck out 90 and walked 27 in 72 2/3 innings. He finished his career with a school record 178 strikeouts in 145 1/3 innings.
