MAHWAH — Dan Daurio, James Draney and Andy Jaipersaud went 1-2-3 and Bogota ran the fastest team time by a Group 1 team on the Darlington course in winning the Varsity B race at the Brett Taylor Memorial Invitational on Saturday at Darlington County Park.

The Bucs posted a sizzling 16:48.4 average, with Daurio (16:10), Draney (16:14) and Jaipersaud (16:24) moving into the 9-10-11 slots on the Group 1 boys list.

“I didn’t think we were going that fast,” said Daurio, who is just four seconds off the school record set by Pat Rochford, the 2008 graduate that now assists the Buccaneers. “It wasn’t a full effort but it was a beautiful day to run.”

Ramses Leon of North Bergen had a 45-second personal best to win the Boys Varsity A title in 16:44 as the meet, in its 24th year, moved past the $100,000 mark in scholarships awarded in memory of the former Hackensack captain Brett Taylor, who died of leukemia at age 28 in 1992.
