HASBROUCK HEIGHTS – The clock wasn’t operating, so there was no real way of telling how much time had expired – or how much time remained. But it was not a problem for Emerson on Tuesday in its North 1, Group 1 boys soccer semifinal.

“The clock doesn’t matter to us,” said Emerson coach Jeremy Truppi. “My guys play from the minute the whistle is blown to start the game to the end. It doesn’t matter what.”

The Cavos showed Hasbrouck Heights that they really didn’t need a clock, because they scored two minutes into the game, scored with 10 seconds left before halftime and scored again two minutes into the second half on the way to a 5-1 victory.

Emerson advances to the sectional final against Waldwick.

WALDWICK 1, KINNELON 0( 2 OT) (at Waldwick): Griffin Price scored off an assist from James Noyes in the second half and Erik Neugebauer made seven saves to lift the seventh-seeded Warriors past the 14th-seeded Colts.
