Emerson was determined to bounce back.

The Cavos went 0-10 last year. They had not won a game since Oct. 17, 2014.

But they entered this season expecting to be competitive, driven to earn victories that had been elusive for so long.

Emerson took a step forward when it defeated Palisades Park/Leonia in its season opener. That was only the beginning.

The Cavos defeated Weehawken, 30-14, on Friday night to earn their fourth win of the season. They have four victories for the first time since 2013.

The Cavos (4-2), who are on a two-game winning streak, sit in third place in the NJIC Patriot Division.

“It’s great,” coach Nick Calandrino said. “Everything we do, it’s good because we have four wins and we had none last year. No matter what happens, the program’s in a better place than it’s been in a few years.”
