GLEN ROCK — When one quarterback is capable of making a football game a one-man show, the opposing team knows it has no choice but to stop him or be able to match his output.

Despite giving up 331 rushing yards to Lyndhurst’s quarterback Peter Guerriero, Glen Rock’s junior duo of quarterback Matt Schlett and running back Ryan Dooner led the Panthers to a 42-35 senior day victory Saturday.

“We knew no matter how many times we scored, they can come back one big play — that kid is amazing,” Schlett said. “Give credit to my linemen, they give me all the time in the world when I need to pass, when I need to run.”

Schlett rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns, all in the second half, on 21 carries and completed 11 of 12 passes for 148 yards and two TDs. Dooner added 155 yards and a score on 10 carries. Together, they posted 404 yards of total offense. Guerriero was 10-of-12 for 49 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

“That was one of the single best performances I’ve ever seen at this level,” Glen Rock coach Jim Kurz said. “[But] we had faith in our quarterback too.”
