* Becton (3-0) seized control of the NJIC Patriot with its victory over Wood-Ridge, which leaves the Wildcats as the only remaining unbeaten team in the division. Senior WR Seven Strong caught seven passes for 143 yards and three TDs from junior QB Michael Bolwell (13-of-22, 206 yards, four TDs). Sophomore RB Mekhi Davis added 14 carries for 90 yards and two scores. Senior LB Jonathan Rengifo supplied seven tackles, two sacks and forced a fumble against the previously unbeaten Blue Devils.

* After not winning a game last season, Emerson picked up its second win when it defeated Bogota. Sophomore RB Ryan Shaw ran for five TDs.

* Garfield senior DE Christian Vargas had eight tackles and a fumble recovery to lead the Boilermaker defense in a 13-0 shutout of Lodi. The defense produced five turnovers (three fumble recoveries, two interceptions) and also had three sacks.

* Hawthorne senior RB Andre Jackson rushed for 187 yards and two TDs and caught two passes for 35 yards in the Bears’ win at Lyndhurst.

* Lodi senior LB Andrew Marjikian stood out in a losing effort by recording a game-high 13 tackles and two sacks. Seven of those stops were solo tackles.

* Park Ridge (1-1) erupted for 52 points in its win over Wallington. That is the Panthers’ highest output since scoring 56 against Weehawken in 1996. Senior QB Jack Lepore threw five touchdown passes — all of 30 yards or more. He found sophomore WR Zachary Lewis on 30- and 55-yard strikes and senior WR Tommy Morgan on passes of 31, 33 and 55 yards.

* Rutherford senior QB Tom Reid had big shoes to fill when he took over for graduated Nick Birchby. But Reid, who was a WR the previous two seasons, has stepped up big for the Bulldogs. He had another nice performance against Palisades Park/Leonia. He completed seven of 10 passes for 201 yards and one TD. Reid also rushed for 31 yards and two TDs.

* Waldwick/Midland Park has an excellent rushing attack, and it showed in its win over Manchester. Junior RB Sonny DiPasquale ran for 106 yards and a TD on 12 carries in the Warriors’ win. Senior FB Matt Messner carried the ball 21 times for 178 yards and one TD. Junior RB Alessio Cerrito ran 10 times for 69 yards and two TDs.
