SADDLE BROOK – Senior tailback Chris Jacobson carried 16 times for 182 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Saddle Brook past Becton, 42-0, in an NJIC Meadowlands Division football game Saturday.

The Falcons (2-0) took a 7-0 lead with Jacobson scoring from 12 yards out with 7:34 left in the opening quarter as Saddle Brook traveled 58 yards in eight plays. On the second play of the second quarter, Jacobson raced 68 yards up the middle for the score that made it 14-0.

Saddle Brook also was aided by four interceptions, three by senior cornerback Devin Marchesani. Kevin Bottine, a senior linebacker, had the other interception for the Falcons.

Becton (1-1), coming off a 21-19 victory over Garfield last week, was held to 128 yards total offense by Saddle Brook. The Falcons’ offense compiled 376 yards.

“We executed our game plan well on both sides of the ball,” said Saddle Brook coach Leo Ciappina. “I’m very pleased with this solid two-way performance, and our special teams did a good job, too. We came out right from the start and our line fired out well offensively and it put good pressure on defensively.”

Saddle Brook junior quarterback Jon Gelenius hit senior Alex Fernandez with an 18-yard touchdown pass with 5:26 left in the second quarter to give Saddle Brook a 21-0 lead. Jacobson’s 14-yard run 2:58 before halftime upped the Falcons lead to 28-0.

In the third quarter Bottine scored on a 20-yard run before Jacobson closed out the scoring with a 16-yard TD run with 5:38 left in the period.
