Hasbrouck Heights, ranked No. 17, is having another strong year under coach Craig Messery after only graduating one senior from last season. The Aviators rely on their talent toward the middle of the lineup for their success. Jason Dal Cortivo (18-2) is a dominant wrestler at 132, followed by John Iurato, Matthew Dallara and Michael O’Malley. All four wrestlers have double-digit victories this season for Hasbrouck Heights, who won Group E and took fourth overall at the BCCA George Jockish Holiday Tournament.
Rutherford’s Omar Abdelhamid is off to an impressive start during his senior year. The Bulldogs’ wrestler, who won the BCCA 152-pound title, has won all 17 of his matches so far this season. Fair Lawn’s Dylan Cedeno (15-0) is also undefeated at 106.
Elmwood Park earned a pair of exciting victories over the weekend that were both determined by the final match. The Crusaders beat Cresskill (42-40) and Leonia (41-36) on Saturday. Tyler Martinez of Elmwood Park (145/152) added another two pins to improve his personal record to 15-6.
