The Aviators won their first sectional title since 2016, scoring 90 points to run past runner-up Mountain Lakes (71).

Hampered by injuries all season to several key contributors, the Aviators persevered and finished the weekend with three gold, three silver and four bronze medals.

Junior Vincent Sedlmeir doubled in the 110 hurdles and high jump and finished third in the 400 hurdles and senior Adam Stavash won the pole vault in his first outing of the spring after suffering an injury in the winter.

Junior Maliki Burrell finished second in the 100 and was third in the 200 and 400.

Heights’ 4-x-100 and 4-x-800 relay teams took second and the 4-x-400 team was third.

“I’m so proud of the way the kids handled adversity and battled for one team goal this weekend,” Hasbrouck Heights coach Robert Brady said. “I rank this team as one of the great teams I’ve had here. It’s a very deep and balanced team. How they work as a team and pick each other up is just great to see.”
