Becton

EAST RUTHERFORD – Becton head girls basketball coach Mike Moussab knows, and he lets his starters know that once they are on the floor that they will pretty much be out there for the entire game.

“The four seniors and a sophomore do not leave the floor unless they’re in foul trouble,” said Moussab, the first year Becton head coach.

Moussab, who is the third head girls basketball coach in three years for Becton, did not get the job until the fall, late in the process, and missed the summer league season.

Despite that the Lady Wildcats were 4-3 as of midway last week with victories over North Arlington, Wood-Ridge, Paterson Charter and Leonia.

“I think I’m most fortunate to have a group of seniors who have worked hard and have bought in to what I have brought to Becton,” said Moussab.

For Moussab the strength of his team is the inside play and height. “People see us on the floor and think we have five forwards,” said Moussab.

The team is led by its two inside seniors in Sam Frola and Sam Stallone, who are both 5-feet-9 and solid inside. “They love playing inside and an inside-outside game,” said Moussab about the two Sams who were also instrumental in the success of the Becton girls volleyball team the last couple of years.
