When Nick Landy was first named head coach, Harrison boys volleyball was in tough shape. His first season – in 2008 – was evidence of the difficulties, as the Blue Tide struggled to a 3-20 record. Now, nine seasons in, Landy has Harrison just days removed from its first-ever appearance in the state final.

“He has the exact personality you need for this town,” assistant coach Anthony Sabia said. “We’re very humble, we don’t come from a lot. He’s just like their second father, he’ll do anything and everything for every single one of these kids and they love him for it.”

Over the past two seasons, the Blue Tide have established themselves as one of the state’s best programs, racking up a 65-8 record and consecutive titles in both the Hudson County and North Jersey, Section 1 tournaments.
