Falcon flies into century club

With its 7-1 home victory against North Arlington on Thursday, Saddle Brook gave coach Tim Sheldon his 100th career win with the program. Sheldon is in the first season of his second stint with the Falcons and eighth overall.

Anthony Marchetto and Nick Cerbo each chipped in two RBI for Saddle Brook, which scored four runs in the first inning to take command. Michael Cerbo earned the win on the hill as the team evened its record at 3-3.

Gael force pitching

St. Mary senior Greg Dahl joined the no-hit club in Wednesday’s five-inning, 12-0 win at Weehawken. The right-hander came within one out of a perfect game, issuing a walk with two away in the bottom of the fifth.

That was the only baserunner allowed by Dahl (2-0), who struck out five and contributed at the play by going 1-for-3 with a double. Eric Bittiger homered and drove in five to help back the Gaels’ pitcher.
