BASEBALL

Lodi broke into the Top 25 thanks in part to an 11-10, walk-off win over Wood-Ridge on Friday. The Rams scored two runs in the bottom of seventh to earn the win. David Pena (4-for-5, five RBI), Elian Guzman (3-for-4, RBI and Evan Geisler (two RBI) contributed offensively.

Three more pitchers joined the North Jersey No-Hit club this week. Midland Park senior Trey Fracassini threw a six-inning complete game in Wednesday’s 10-0 win at Eastern Christian, striking out eight and walking none in a 54-pitch no-no.

On Thursday, Nick Santamouris (3 IP, 2 K) and Charlie Schmenti (2 IP, 3 K) of St. Mary combined for a five-inning no-hitter in a 21-0 victory at Paterson Charter.

SOFTBALL

Lodi has won seven straight games and entered the weekend on a seven-game winning streak. The Rams won the NJIC Colonial Division, which is their first league title since 2003 and second since 1988. Senior P Bryanna Bigica threw three shutouts last week, and has a scoreless streak of 27 innings. Senior SS Lila Reginald has 41 hits this season while senior C Nikki Salvatore needs two hits to reach 100 for her career.

Ramsey junior C Ryan Henry continues to show why she’s considered one of North Jersey’s most elite catchers. Henry went 8-for-13 with four walks last week while collecting two home runs, two doubles and seven RBI. She came into Sunday batting .540 for the season with 35 RBI and a team-leading 40 hits.

Saddle Brook senior C Morgan Santora recorded her 150th career hit against Immaculate Conception on Friday. Santora is hitting .543 for the Falcons.
