Hasbrouck Heights 42, Wallington 21
Championship Game
Hasbrouck Heights at Rutherford next Friday (11/3) at 7pm
Hasbrouck Heights is back in the NJIC final while Rutherford’s trying to unseat the defending champion.
The Aviators beat Wallington, 42-21, in their conference semifinal while the Bulldogs beat New Milford, 42-27, in the other semifinal.
The NJIC title game is slated for Friday night at 7 p.m. at Tryon Field.
It was a big win for Rutherford, which overcame a 27-7 deficit and scored 35 points in the final 15 minutes of the game to take down New Milford.
Hasbrouck Heights, meanwhile, cruised past Wallington behind the dynamic play of Jasiah Purdie, who ran for 86 yards on 11 carries with three touchdowns.
Limiting Purdie will be key for Rutherford’s defense, which has been excellent all season.
Going into the NJIC semifinal, the Bulldogs had allowed just 30 points all season and had shutout three teams.
Hasbrouck Heights is going for its second straight NJIC title.
The Aviators beat Pompton Lakes, 14-13, in last season’s final.
Hasbrouck Heights, which is on an 18-game winning streak going back to last season, has been dominant this year, outscoring opponents 295-81. (by Chris Iseman – Record Sports)
