Entering the game at 9-0, Hasbrouck Heights looked like an unstoppable force after rolling through its schedule for most of the season, but the Aviators had to fight until the last play to preserve their perfect season on Friday night.

With Cresskill recovering an onside kick and having the ball down a touchdown with under two minutes remaining, senior Philip Viola picked off an errant pass from Jack Maltby to send Hasbrouck Heights to the North 1, Group 1 final.

The Aviators forced three turnovers on the night, two of them leading to scores to down Cresskill 28-21. Quarterback Frank Quatrone scored twice on the ground, and John Ituro and Jasiah Purdie added touchdowns to put Hasbrouck Heights ahead. Maltby paced the Cresskill offense with a passing and rushing score to go along with several big throws.
