Kaitlin Salisbury completed her illustrious high school career with All-American honors at this weekend’s New Balance Outdoor National championships at North Carolina A & T University in Greensboro, N.C. Salisbury, the Hawthorne star who won the last two State Meet of Champions in both the long and triple jumps, had an uphill battle in the championship triple jump. But she went from 34th to eighth and a spot in the finals with a clutch jump of 38 feet, four inches as the last of 47 jumpers in the preliminary round. She then improved to 40-1 1/4 on the first jump of the finals to take fourth and earn All-American honors.

Salisbury had finished 10th in the event last year, and her 40-1 1/4 mark tied her own personal best.
