Secaucus' Damaris Rodriguez scores her 1,000th point

Damaris Rodriguez scored her 1,000th career point in Secaucus‘ 64-19 win over Bergen Charter in Hackensack.

Rodriguez, a junior, achieved the milestone in the first quarter and finished the game with 18 points and 10 steals. She now 1,000 points for her career.

One of the state’s top point guards, Rodriguez is averaging 17.2 points, 7.5 assists and 5.1 steals per game for Secaucus (11-1). As a sophomore, she helped lead Secaucus to the Hudson County and North 2, Group 1 finals when she averaged 13.2 points, 7.8 assists and 4.6 steals per game. Her freshman year saw her average 13.3 points, 7.2 assists and 3.4 steals per game as the Patriots captured their second ever Hudson County championship.

Rodriguez is also one of the area’s more accomplished soccer players, totaling 55 goals and 18 assists as a three-year varsity performer.
