GLEN ROCK – As teammates and family members celebrated and shouted all over the field, Matt Schlett stood off to the side trying to convey what this meant. There was no easy way to do that.

Not after the Glen Rock quarterback helped lead his team to a gritty overtime victory in a back-and-forth, momentum-shifting game against rival Hawthorne.

“It’s just mixed emotions,” Schlett said. “It’s unreal.”

Schlett threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Tommy Pulzello and Robert Ray’s extra point sailed through the uprights, lifting No. 1 Glen Rock to a 35-34 victory over fourth-seeded Hawthorne in a North 1, Group 2 semifinal.

The Panthers will play No. 2 Mahwah for a sectional title at MetLife Stadium.
