Kevin Kosakowski had touchdown rushes of 1 and 21 yards, and kicked a 20-yard field goal to lead second-seeded Rutherford over No. 3 Hanover Park, 38-28, in a North 2, Group 2 football playoff game Friday night at Rutherford.
The Bulldogs (10-0) advance to their first sectional championship game since 2003.
Laris Mulic caught a 60-yard TD pass from Nick Birchby for Rutherford on the third play of the game.
Billy Finn scored on a 1-yard rush out of the Wildcat formation as Rutherford went up, 17-7, early in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs withstood a late rally from the Hornets (9-2), who scored two touchdowns after Rutherford extended its lead to 38-14 with 10:30 remaining.
