*Glen Rock is a perennial power in the small-school NJIC that is capable of competing with the larger schools from the Big North.

The Panthers demonstrated that last week by joining 10 teams from the Big North and tying for sixth at the Arcola Invitational in Paramus.

What Glen Rock needs is greater consistency as it seeks to repeat as Division 1 champ at Monday’s NJIC Championship at Valley Brook in River Vale and make a run in its sectional tournament the following week.

“Either we’re all on and we play well, or it seems like they’re all off on the same day,” coach Dan Morgan said.

Senior Tom LaMacchia has led Glen Rock with a nine-hole average of 39. Sophomores MinJun Choi and Spencer Jefferies average in the low 40s. John LaMacchia, Tom’s sophomore brother, and Peter Cassidy add depth.

*Waldwick carded a program-record 158 last week at Orchard Hills in Paramus. Senior Riley Toolen shot 2-over 37 and senior Anthony Marchese had 38. The Warriors eclipsed the previous mark of 162, set in 2002 at Orchard Hills.

*Sophomore Noah Hagedoorn’s career-best 39 led Eastern Christian to a season-best 193 and an avenging win over North Arlington at Overpeck in Teaneck.
