It was the beginning of June, and it was a moment that will be remembered at Lyndhurst High School.

It was definitely a tough day as the Golden Bears were knocked out of the state playoffs by Caldwell, 4-2, in the Group 2 North 2 state semifinals at Lyndhurst’s home field, the Lyndhurst Rec Center.

But it was also the changing of the guard for the South Bergen powerhouse program as it was the last game for long-time head coach Frank “Butch” Servideo.

And it was handing off to the new head coach Pat Auteri, who was a long-time assistant coach for Servideo.

Auteri was handed the reins of the Lyndhurst High School baseball program officially last month with the approval of the township school board and takes over for Golden Bears baseball legend, Servideo.
