Results of Group-1 State Volleyball Semi-Finals
BOGOTA 2, GLEN ROCK 0 (at Bogota): Top-seeded Bogota earned a chance to win its fifth Group 1 title in six years courtesy of a 25-9, 25-17 victory. Junior hitter Samantha Gioiosa had 22 kills, senior setter Amanda Manzo 28 assists and sophomore libero Lisbeth Suarez 14 digs for Bogota (24-3). Junior hitter Lizzie Alba had 12 digs and three kills for No. 5 Glen Rock (25-8).
LEONIA 2, RUTHERFORD 1 (at Rutherford): Leonia is in the state finals for the first time thanks to a 25-23, 22-25, 25-23 victory. Junior Briana Cahill had 10 kills, senior Jennifer Alva 30 assists and senior Lee Joon Choi 25 digs for No. 3 Leonia (25-1), which faces Bogota in Saturday’s 3 p.m. final.
