NORTH HALEDON — You could say that the Eastern Christian High School softball team for 2014 was the little engine that could.

The Lady Eagles only had 10 varsity players so there was no room for major injuries or sicknesses or basically anything.

But despite the small number of players Eastern Christian’s softball team made it to the Non-Public North B state sectional final for the first time in eight years. It was also only the third time in the program’s history to make it to the state sectional final.

While Eastern Christian lost 12-0 to Immaculate Conception in the state sectional final, Lady Eagles head coach Kevin Vanderbeck could not be more happy with how his team performed by finishing with a 16-9 overall record.
