Garfield High School got ready for what could be considered the game for the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC) Colonial Division title this Friday.

The Boilermakers defeated Lyndhurst, 25-6 on Friday night at home to stay undefeated at 5-0. Garfield travels to Waldwick/Midland Park on Friday in a battle of undefeated teams.

Elmwood Park (3-2) moved up the seedings in the state playoffs with another convincing win, this time 48-26, over Palisades Park on Friday.

First year head coach Tom Mulligan said that his team is starting to jell around quarterback Mike Dare and the squad’s veteran offensive line.

“He (Dare) has settled in and is more patient,” said Mulligan, whose two losses this season have come at the hands of two undefeated teams, Garfield and Waldwick. “Our offensive line is five seniors and we take a lot of pride in that line.”

Hasbrouck Heights (3-2) stayed a game behind Cresskill for first place in the NJIC Meadowlands Division with a quality 21-14 win at Secaucus on Friday.

Saddle Brook (3-2) stayed in contention for a state playoff bid with a 39-20 win over Emerson at home on Saturday.

Lodi (2-3) continued to struggle as it dropped its second in a row with a 49-12 loss at Waldwick on Friday night.

In a battle of winless teams, Wallington (1-4) had a big second half to defeat Wood-Ridge (0-5), 27-12.

Fair Lawn (1-4) lost its fourth straight game, this time to powerhouse Passaic Tech, 48-0, on Friday night on the road.
