JERSEY CITY — Another year, another heartbreak at the hands of Lincoln. This time around, however, Secaucus made the Lions work double overtime to do it.

Top-seeded Lincoln pulled out a 48-43 double-overtime win over the No. 2 Patriots on Saturday night in the Hudson County girls basketball title game at St. Peter’s College. The loss spoiled Secaucus‘ first trip to the county final and snapped the Patriots’ 19-game winning streak.

The Lions (25-1), who have won two straight titles, also eliminated Secaucus from the tournament last season with a one-point win in the semifinals.

The Patriots (24-2), ranked No. 4 in The Record girls basketball Top 25, trailed, 22-15, at the half. They rallied in the second half, taking a 36-34 lead with 36 seconds remaining before the Lions forced overtime on a She’kinah Suber jumper with 12 seconds left.

Suber also starred in the second overtime, scoring Lincoln’s final four points.
