Passaic County tournament

Pompton Lakes became the eighth and final team to reach the Passaic County quarterfinals, thanks to Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Passaic Tech.

Cristina Miller and Liana Nativo scored and Maggie Horn made six saves for the No. 8 Cardinals, who face top-seeded Wayne Valley in the quarterfinals.

Rutherford (9-3) has only allowed six goals and goalie junior Regina Maslag has eight shutouts. Maslag has received strong defensive support from junior Jen Netelkos, seniors Donna Cammarano, Sara Hansen and Alexis Montoto, junior Maddy Caputo, and Emily Weber. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have scored 37 goals, with senior Rachel Wronko leading with nine goals, while senior Ava Moran has four goals and six assists.

Bergen County has two teams in the USA TODAY Super 25. Ramapo (10-0) debuts at No. 22 following last week’s 3-2 overtime win over then-No. 1 Northern Highlands, and Northern Highlands (11-1) is tied for 25th.
