North Jersey Interscholastic Conference
Forward: Abby Incorvaia, Waldwick, Sr.
Incorvaia has picked up right where she left off from last season. Waldwick’s star forward kicked off her final scholastic season with back-to-back hat tricks against Saddle River Day and Emerson Boro. Incorvaia posted four hat tricks in 2022, so don’t be surprised if that number is even higher in 2023. She’s that special of a player.
Midfielder: Fiona Waller, Rutherford, Jr.
Rutherford has made the biggest early season statement in the National Division, starting off the season 4-0-1. Waller, a three-sport athlete, has been a major reason for Rutherford’s successful run early in the season. She’s tallied four goals and one assist in the last week, which included a hat-trick against Eastern Christian. Herself, Poppie Bimson, and Ava Coppola are all dangerous scorers and have been clinical near goal this season.
Defender: Rena Shim, Leonia, So.
Leonia has allowed just one goal so far this season and Shim has anchored Leonia’s defense thus far. She was an all-conference selection a year ago and looks to have gotten even better, as her ball skills and vision helps her team start their offense from the back line. She’s also making significant contributions in the attacking third – scoring two goals and tallying an assist in three games this week.
Goalkeeper: Mackenzie Brattlof, Park Ridge, Sr.
Brattlof recently made her 100th career save in a 7-1 victory over Midland Park on Wednesday and has been a crucial reason why Park Ridge is off to a 4-0 start. The senior goalie has allowed just two goals so far this season and posted a clean sheet against New Milford on Monday. She helps her team build from the back with her ability to play the ball with her feet and has become more of a vocal leader on the field. Brattlof, who is also a standout goalie on the lacrosse team, possesses good lateral movement when protecting the box, making her a tough goalkeeper to score on.
