Boys Runners to Watch

Hussein Elmeshad, Leonia, jr.: An honorable mention All-Bergen selection last fall, he won the NJIC Meadowlands title and took fifth in Bergen Group C.

Quinn Geraghty, Bogota, sr.: The All-Bergen honorable mention was fourth in the NJIC Patriot and 24th in state Group 1.

Mike Germinario, Wayne Valley, sr.: All-Passaic last year, he was third in the Big North Independence and Passaic races and ninth in the North 1, Group 3.

Bobby Gonzalez, Don Bosco, sr.: An All-Bergen and All-North Jersey selection, he’s the leader of one of the state’s top teams after a breakthrough year.

Darren Guzman, Teaneck, sr.: The best cross-country runner in years for the Highwaymen, he seems primed for a big year after finishing 23rd in the Bergen Meet of Champions.

Sondy Polanco, Secaucus, jr.: A second-team All-Hudson selection, he became the Patriots’ first sectional winner at the North 1, Group 2 meet.

Patrick Robertson, River Dell, jr.: A key to team success, he took 10th in the Group 2 sectional and 12th in the Bergen B meet.

Kotaro Tamura, Ridgewood, sr.: A leader of an excellent Maroon pack, he was second-team All-North Jersey last fall after taking 27th in state Group 4.

Matt Tuohy, Indian Hills, sr.: He earned All-North Jersey and All-Bergen honors by finishing16th in state Group 3.

Adham Ziyadeh, Cliffside Park, sr.: The second-team selection and defending Big North American champ is back.
