THE RECORD — Mark J. Czerwinski, Keith Idec and Ed Mills

* Senior RB Seth Scalvino gained 103 yards on 16 carries in Hasbrouck Heights’ 14-7 loss to Saddle Brook. Senior QB James Pikowski, who split time with junior Frank Quatrone, rushed 12 times for 71 yards and a TD, which gave Hasbrouck Heights a 7-6 lead entering the fourth quarter.

* Saddle Brook senior QB Robert Lazzaro completed 12 of 16 passes for 192 yards and two TDs, and wasn’t intercepted during the Falcons’ win over Hasbrouck Heights. Saddle Brook’s win secured its spot in the North 1, Group 1 playoffs.

* Hawthorne senior MLB Mike Deitrich made 14 tackles in a 41-14 victory over Harrison. Deitrich leads Hawthorne with 74 tackles in seven games.

* Senior QB Seven Villa returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a TD in Lodi’s 46-21 loss to New Milford. Villa also threw a TD pass and rushed for 68 yards on 20 carries. He has returned two kickoffs for TDs this season and has rushed for 1,226 yards on 151 carries.

* New Milford junior RB Christian Correa cracked the 1,000-yard rushing plateau by carrying 15 times for a season-high 226 yards and four TDs in the win over Lodi. He has 1,091 yards and 13 TDs in eight games.

* Queen of Peace junior QB Derick Suazo completed 10 of 19 passes for 174 yards and three TDs to lead the Golden Griffins over Wallington, 26-21. Through eight games, Suazo has thrown for 1,496 yards and 16 TDs, and has been intercepted just twice. Queen of Peace has won three of its past four games following an 0-4 start.

* The St. Mary offensive line – junior C Alec Domac, junior T Chris Shafto, freshman T Giovanni Potente, senior G Karlo Pozo and junior G Dominick Speciale – deserves plenty of credit for RB Derius Stone’s school record 577-yard rushing performance against Emerson. Domac and Shafto have stepped in during the season to replace injured starters.

* Wood-Ridge fell short in its bid for a North 1, Group 1 playoff spot, but it’s been a great run for the Blue Devils. They’ve won five straight and a win Friday night against Harrison would clinch their first winning season since 2007.
