Best assets: Hasbrouck Heights reached the North 1, Group 1 sectional final last season unbeaten before falling to Pompton Lakes, 20-14. Returning to make another run at the title are With entered that game undefeated at 11-0, theof  strong play from seniors RB/LB Steven Salerno, Also back for Hasbrouck Heights is  OT/LB Mauro Altamuro, G/DE Nate Onorato and WR/S Franklin Garcia. Coach Nick DelCalzo also expects contributions from senior DB Matt Fausette, junior G/DT Scott Salerno and sophomore two-way tackle Sean O’Malley.

Biggest concern: The Aviators “lost a lot of talent,” off last year’s sectional finalist squad according to DelCalzo, including and the Aviators must find a way to replace the extremely productive QB Darren Iurato at quarterback. There’s currently a three-way battle for the starting spot between Fausette, junior James Pikowski and sophomore Frank Quatrone are competing for the starting spot. Three scrimmages  against Pascack Hills, New Milford and Lodi will help determine who lines up under center in Week 1. “We’re going to need some young kids to step up and play important roles for us this season,” DelCalzo said. “But they have seen what has gone on here to be successful.
