Last year’s record: 9-3

Final ranking: No. 20

Marquee game: Oct. 18 at Hasbrouck Heights

Best assets: The Gaels are blessed with one of North Jersey’s most effective running backs in senior Keon Banks, who has Offensive Player of the Year potential. But also keep an eye on underrated senior FB Kevin Woupes, a wonderful backfield sidekick for Banks. There’s a solid core of 13 seniors bringing who bring experience and a top-shelf work ethic. DB/WR/KR Anthony Pontiero is another strong skill player, and the Gaels have a very good offensive line built around players like such as Nick Kovacs, Jamie Van Allen and Guy Madsen.

Biggest concern: While coach Mike Sheridan is very excited about his core players, he’s also quick to point out that depth is always an issue at a Group 1 school. The Gaels should have one of the best running games in the NJIC, but they need the passing game to set up the run. It will be interesting to watch the development of senior QB Dante Bolna, who has paid his dues in waiting for this job.
