The Record Football Rankings

Last year’s record: 8-2

Final ranking: No. 14

Marquee game: at New Milford, Sept. 12

Best assets: Senior QB Adeyemi Da Silva returns as one of the top signal-callers in North Jersey after throwing for 1,544 yards and 17 touchdowns last year, while adding 616 rushing yards and six TDs. Da Silva, the Villanova commit, will have plenty of weapons at his disposal in the multiple spread offense, including junior RB Allen Makarov, junior wide receiver Jojo Robinson, senior wide receiver Tyler Moldoff, senior wideout Tony Vargas and senior tight end Eric Chun. Palisades Park is just two years removed from reaching the North 2, Group 3 final.

Biggest concern: With only a varsity roster of about 35 kids, depth is the primary concern. After entering the postseason at 8-1 last season, third-seeded Pal Park was upset by sixth-seeded Cranford in the opening round of the North 2, Group 3 tournament. “I think that’s a level of motivation for these guys,” coach Dave Schuman said. “Our biggest obstacle is that we have to get guys to understand what the process is to get better and get back to championship-mode again.”
