Last year’s record: 10-1

Final ranking: No. 15

Marquee game: vs. Hasbrouck Heights, Oct. 17

Best assets: An interesting combination of experienced seniors and talented sophomores. Some of the best experience is on the nicely sized offensive line, including senior C Kyle Labrincha, senior T Logan Gardner and senior G Karllo Pozo, who is back from an injury. Throw in senior RB Darius Stone and senior FB Julian Mumford, and talented sophomore quarterback Richard Marques should be able to grow into his job. Coach Mike Sheridan said Marques has a good football IQ and is ready to make an impact. If everyone stays healthy, the offense should be quite productive and the Gaels will be the team to beat in the NJIC Patriot Division.

Biggest concern: Postseason. The Gaels have struggled to take that next step, and it might be even tougher this season in Non-Public Group 2. Depth also is an issue because of inexperience. The sophomore class, which also features tight end Josh Marren, split end Tyrese Thomas, offensive lineman Gabe Morales and linebacker Charles Schmenti, has talent but is largely untested.
