MAHWAH — Samantha Fuehring had seen enough.
The Immaculate Conception senior forward lived through one semifinal collapse against Teaneck last season. That’s the unfinished business the Blue Wolves have been harping on, and the last thing Fuehring wanted was a replay Sunday against Saddle River Day.
And so, as the Rebels were slicing deep into IC’s 16-point lead early in the third quarter, Fuehring stepped up and had her say.
“We spoke about how we can’t have this happen again,” Fuehring said after the third-seeded Blue Wolves regained their composure, stopping No. 10 Saddle River Day, 55-40, in the Bergen County girls basketball semifinals at Ramapo College’s Bradley Center. “I don’t know what they were thinking about, but I was thinking about last year. I told them when Saddle River Day was on the foul line that I didn’t want this to happen again.”
