One of the first things Immaculate Conception girls basketball coach Jeff Horohonich did after the Blue Wolves lost the Non-Public B state title game to St. Rose was to contemplate life after Samantha Fuehring.

“I have to find how to replace 2,100 [career] points,” Horohonich said with a little smile and shake of his head. “Maybe I’ll have to go on eBay or something.”

Ah, if it were only that simple.

Fuehring, a McDonald’s All-America selection, is off to Louisville, leaving behind a reputation as one of the most dominant players in North Jersey. She averaged 18.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 31 games this season as the Blue Wolves reached the Bergen County and Non-Public B finals for the time.

Throw in her influence on the team — on the court and behind the scenes — and you have the résumé of The Record Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
