SADDLE RIVER – They attack in waves and waves and are relentless in their quest for loose balls, errant opponent passes and rebounds on both ends of the floor. The Saddle River Day Rebels are a young team with no seniors, but their aggressiveness and full-court 32-minute pressure more than make up for their youth.Led by 14 points and eight rebounds from Danielle Deoul, 13 points and nine rebounds from Kayla Oge and 12 points and five assists from Dani McMahon, Saddle River turned back Cresskill, 61-26, Thursday, in a non-league girls basketball game.

“We switched between a man-to-man and a matchup zone and it was pretty effective overall,” third-year Saddle River Day coach Danny Brown said. “We came out with a good amount of intensity and we tried to go as hard as we could the rest of the way because Cresskill kept battling right until the final buzzer.”

Saddle River Day (9-4), playing an independent schedule this season which includes losses to highly regarded Lincoln of Jersey City, Trenton Central and Upper Room Christian School of Dix Hills, N.Y., had won the NJIC Patriot the past two seasons (25-4 and 24-3).
