* Saddle River Day is a first-year varsity girls lacrosse team with limited experience. But it’s already earned three victories and is one game below .500.

It’s being led offensively by one of the highest scorers in the area – freshman Dani McMahon has 60 goals – and on defense by first-year goalie Effy On. There are only two players on the team with prior playing experience. “It’s already exceeded our expectations,” coach Karen McMahon said. “When you have a bunch of girls who feel like they have nothing to lose, you can have a great outcome.”
