Pierce Bolton blasted an ace past Dickinson’s Krishna Bommu to put an exclamation point on his 6-2, 6-4 victory in the Hudson County first-singles final Wednesday.
And in the blink of an eye, the Secaucus senior’s four-year odyssey was completed.

As a freshman, Bolton picked up a racket for the first time since he was 9. Soccer was his favorite when he began high school, but that changed when he and his partner ended up reaching the county final at first doubles. Although they lost, Bolton would never be the same. “After that, I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to really focus on tennis,’ ’’ he said.
Although he was going up against players who were more experienced, Bolton compensated by working hard and studying YouTube videos of his favorite player, Novak Djokovic.
