SECAUCUS – The bottom of the batting order produced top-shelf results. That’s a big reason why Ridgefield has advanced to a sectional championship game for the first time in recent memory.

Sparked by a combined six RBI from Nos. 8 and 9 batters Taylor Loof and Gioia Abreu, sixth-seeded Ridgefield downed second-seeded Secaucus, 10-3, Tuesday in a North 2, Group 1 semifinal softball game. The Royals will play at fourth-seeded Brearley Regional, a 9-2 victor over Dayton Regional in the other semifinal, for the section title Friday in Kenilworth at 4 p.m.

Immaculate Conception will host No. 5 Montclair-Kimberley, which upset No. 4 Newark Academy, 9-4, in one of the other quarterfinals.
