RUTHERFORD – Kevin Kosakowski thinks about the loss every day.The disappointment of watching Madison celebrate on the MetLife Stadium turf eight months ago has not worn off for the Rutherford running back. The sting from losing the North 2, Group 2 football final has not lessened.
That’s what fuels the Bulldogs star and his teammates.
“It’s one of the reasons I wake up at 6:45 in the morning to get here,” Kosakowski said after Thursday morning’s practice. “It’s definitely motivation.”
Kosakowski is helping to lead a Rutherford team determined to make it back to MetLife Stadium, and this time, finish the job.
The Bulldogs did lose some key players from last year’s 10-1 campaign, including quarterback Nick Birchby. He led a dynamic offense, throwing for 1,788 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Being able to hand the ball off to Kosakowski helped, too.
The senior is one of North Jersey’s most dominant running backs. Kosakowski rushed for 1,096 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. He motors the offense.
