GARFIELD 1, EASTERN CHRISTIAN 0 (at North Haledon): Sophomore right-hander Mike Gutierrez was almost perfect for Garfield on Friday, leading the Boilermakers to a 1-0 victory over Eastern Christian in the NJIC Colonial.

Gutierrez, who already has a no-hitter against Lodi this season, took a perfect game into the seventh inning. A two-out bloop single broke up the no-hitter, and a walk and an error loaded the bases before Gutierrez (2-2) was able to put the finishing touches on his gem.

The Boilermakers, who have been struggling to score runs, picked up a run in the top of the first. Ricky Reyes led off with a double, moved to third on an infield out and scored on a Gutierrez sacrifice fly.

CRESSKILL 8, PALISADES PARK 1 (at Cresskill): Brandon Williams and Lou Bloom combined on a one-hitter to lift the Cougars to a Patriot Division win.

Williams (2-0) allowed one hit and struck out seven in five shutout innings. Bloom struck out four of the six hitters he faced.

RUTHERFORD 18, HAWTHORNE 14 (at Rutherford): Neal Calabrese had a home run and eight RBI as the Bulldogs, ranked No. 9 in The Record Top 25, outlasted the No. 21 Bears in the Colonial Division. Julian Mis also homered for the Bulldogs.

SADDLE BROOK 12, PATERSON CHARTER 7 (at Paterson): Edward Baram had a double, triple and five RBI to lead the Falcons in the Meadowlands Division. Anthony Rodriguez had a homer and four RBI for Paterson Charter.

NEW MILFORD 9, MIDLAND PARK 2 (at Midland Park): Nick Ramirez tossed a complete game six-hitter to lead the Knights to a crossover win. James Pensar had three hits and two RBI.

BECTON 4, PARK RIDGE 1 (at Park Ridge): Senior right-hander Joe Penna allowed one run on five hits for the Wildcats..

DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD 4, BOGOTA 1 (at Englewood): Dallas Devlin scattered four hits and struck out 12 to pick up his fourth win.
