NORTH 1, GROUP 1

Junior second baseman Frank Manning hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth at Doc Sweeney Field on Tuesday to lift top-seeded Emerson to a 3-2 win over No. 12 Cedar Grove in the North 1, Group 1 baseball semifinals in Emerson.

It was the Cavos’ fourth walk-off win of the season. Senior Mike Callagee threw two scoreless innings of relief to become North Jersey’s first nine-game winner.

NORTH 2, GROUP 1

RIDGEFIELD 5, DAYTON 1 (at Ridgefield): Senior right-hander Eamon Catherina struck out four in five innings to notch his seventh win for the top-seeded Royals. Senior center fielder Joel Torres had two RBI, both on safety squeezes in the first two innings.

WEEHAWKEN 3, BLOOMFIELD TECH 1 (at Caldwell): Junior right-hander Brian Rodriguez tossed a complete-game three-hitter for No. 6 Weehawken, striking out six and allowing an unearned run.

NORTH NON-PUBLIC B

ST. MARY 3, EASTERN CHRISTIAN 1 (at Rutherford): Senior right-hander Sal Careri allowed just five hits and one run in six innings for the top-seeded Gaels.
